Airsoft DMR upgrade perun hybrid
Where to take my airsoft gun for upgrades?

DMR Pro is the best options from ADZZZY's ARMOURY as not only does it provide both durability and performance from the gearbox, barrel and hop to achieve the longest range, the Perun Hybrid mosfet completely eliminates the risk of semi lock on the gearbox.

Go Brushless - +£50

Brushless motor upgrade

Add a Solink Brushless motor to your build on either the DMR Intermediate or DMR Pro package. Swap out the the Brushed 31k high torque motor that comes as standard with both upgrade packages. The brushless motor gives you extended battery life, Quieter running and superior trigger response and speed.

Additional upgrade options

To get the best in terms of reliability and performance from your DMR you may need to consider the following options.

6x Solid Bushings - £9

Airsoft bushings upgrade

Solid bushings offer durability and long term reliability as we push the performance of your AEG gearbox. ADZZZY recommends we replace and standard bushings if they are plastic or made of weak metal or if your AEG has bearings, as bearings are more moving parts that can fail causing the gearbox to require rebuilding. These come in 6mm, 7mm, 8mm and 9mm

Spring guide V2/V3 - £15

Airsoft V2 V3 Ball Bearing Spring Guide

Spring guides may require upgrading when the standard ones are made of plastic. This is another measure to ensure durability.  Another advantage of the spring guide upgrade is to have the ball bearing washers which allows free rotation of the main spring as it is compressed and release with each stroke of the piston.

Rotary hop chamber (M4 varriants) - £25

ZCI rotary hop up chamber

Rotary hop chamber allows for effective and consistent application of the hop up on your freshly upgraded hop rubber to achieve the maximum range possible. Available for M4 variants and similar rifles. Replaces standard hop chamber that may not apply consistently or offer as much adjustment for fine tuning to achieve best results.

Useful DMR info

Expected range from a well set up DMR is going to be about 70 meters, But remember Airsoft sites will have a minimum engagement distance in which you are not allowed to shoot enemy players that are closer to you. This is typically between 20 and 30 meters. This is put into place for safety reason due to the higher muzzle power achieved by DMR airsoft guns.

Airsoft DMR upgrade

A DMR has to be fully locked to semi auto only to be able to legally run a power of above 1.3 joules under UK law, This means it must have no way of firing more than 1 BB with each trigger pull. It can be either locked to semi mechanically or with the use of a mosfet. Using a mosfet to lock an airsoft DMR to semi auto is way more efficient than doing it mechanically as it eliminates the risk of semi lock on the gearbox. Semi lock on the gearbox is where it refuses fire on semi auto and would normally require being switch to full auto and fired to get everything moving again. This is caused by the sector gear stopping in the wrong position and partially lifting the semi release and not allowing the trigger trolley to move forwards and make contact with the trigger contacts. ADZZZY prefers to use a Perun Hybrid mosfet however other mosfet options are available if your budget or rifle requires it.

As some Airsoft sites run slightly different limits for their DMR rules this will need to be specified at the point of deciding on your build. Site limits commonly vary between 1.64 joules and 1.88 joules on your chosen weight of BBs. ADZZZY is not going to promise your chrono reading to read the maximum with each shot. Your rifle will be set up within a comfortable margin of the site limit so that there is no risk of you failing your game day chrono test.

Is a DMR build right for me?

This is a good question. A DMR depends on your play style during a game. There are a few factors to consider when deciding.

- A DMR will have a minimum engagement distance for safety reason as the rifles are running a higher muzzle  power. This is typically between 20 to 30 meter at most airsoft sites. So if you are not carrying a side arm you will not be able to engage the enemy player at close range.

- You rifle will only fire a single BB at any one time, so no more spraying and praying, you are going to have to make each shot count. Some airsoft sites may even restrict how fast you are allowed to spam your trigger under DMR rules. For example you may have to let your round land before firing the second shot.

- You will have longer range than the other players to make up for the fact that you can only fire one BB at a time. However to manage you expectation in reality you will be able to reach a target that is about 70 meters away unless you have the skills to aim above and drop those BBs in on the enemy player. Compared to the normal full auto AEGs that are reaching about 60 meters.

- Heavier BBs are an essential for a DMR build to ensure a stable BB flight with the higher muzzle power. They also help against the effects of wind. Be prepared for the additional cost to buy BBs as there is a bit of a jump in cost vs quantity when you start going to 0.4g and above. Good job its only semi auto....

- A DMR is not the weapon of choice if you are looking to get stuck in with the objective, rush your enemy or be the first to enter the building. Probably best you sit back and cover your team from a distance while they do that bit.
